My Fees &
Services
Prices for Individual Therapy, Clinical Assessments and Reports, Group Therapy, Clinical Supervision or Leadership/Executive Coaching …
As a mental health practitioner, I am available to offer adults one-on-one individual psychological therapy, clinical supervision, or professional coaching. I also provide group therapy and group supervision. Each individual session lasts approximately 50 minutes and takes place either online through Telehealth Videoconferencing using Zoom or in person at The Malvern Rooms in Melbourne, Australia.
To enquire or make an appointment, please get in touch with me using this CONTACT FORM. Referrals can be faxed to 03 8080 6421. Depending on my availability, I aim to back to you within a week to follow up and discuss my availability for an initial consultation. After you get in touch with me I can email you registration and consent forms to complete, and arrange to make our first appointment. I am happy to discuss referrals with doctors and clinicians, however, I also like to connect directly with patients when making the first appointment to determine if I can provide the help that they need.
Medicare Rebates & Insurance
There is a Better Access Medicare rebate of $145.25 available for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year if you are referred by a General Practitioner (GP) through a Mental Health Treatment Plan or by your Psychiatrist or Paediatrician. The same rebate applies for 20 to 40 individual sessions if referred through an Eating Disorder Management Plan. Additionally, you may claim a Medicare rebate of $68.30 per 2-hour group session or $50.25 per 90-minute group session for attending up to 10 group sessions per calendar year. If your banking details are registered with Medicare, rebates can be processed after sessions once payment has been received.
For patients funded through the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), I am able to bill DVA directly. However, similar to Medicare funded patients, patients who are funded through Private Health Insurance, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Comcare, Worksafe/Victorian Workcover Authority (VWA), Victorian Transport Accident Commission (TAC), or the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT) will need to pay fees at the time of service and then seek a rebate independently, incurring a small out-of-pocket expense.
Individual Session Fees
The price for a 50-minute online individual session is:
- $240 for Online through Telehealth/Zoom ($98.15 out-of-pocket with Medicare)
- $270 for In-person at Malvern Rooms ($128.15 out-of-pocket with Medicare)
For comparison, the Australian Psychological Society (APS) National Schedule of Suggested Fees recommends a fee of $318.00 for a standard 46 to 60 minute psychological consultation. Provided your banking details are registered with Medicare, rebates can be processed after sessions once payment has been received. There are also smaller Medicare rebates for another five individual sessions each calendar year if your GP refers you due to a chronic health condition or through having Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (First Nations) descent, and these are best maximised once you have reached your Medicare threshold toward the end of the calendar year. Please be aware that I operate on a private fee-for-service basis, which means that you will be responsible for paying all fees at the time of service for individual therapy appointments.
Group Program Fees
Various group programs offered include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT) skill sets such as DBT-Distress Tolerance, DBT-Emotion Regulation, DBT-Interpersonal Effectiveness/DBT-Walking the Middle Path, RO-DBT Social Signalling, and RO-DBT Self-Enquiry. Foundational DBT-Core Mindfulness skills are included at the start of each group program. The total price for an 8 or 10 week face-to-face group therapy program is $960 per person which needs to be paid in advance and cannot be refunded once the group program has commenced because of the financial impact on other group participants. The resulting breakdown cost for each group therapy session is either:
- $120.00 per person per group for 8 group sessions lasting 2 hours each if there is a minimum of 4 people ($51.70 out-of-pocket once Medicare is applied), or
- $96.00 per person per group for 10 group sessions lasting 90 minutes each if there is a minimum of 6 people ($45.75 out-of-pocket once Medicare is applied).
For comparison, the Australian Psychological Society (APS) National Schedule of Suggested Fees recommends a fee of $200.00 for a standard 91-120 minute group consultation that includes 3 or 4 people, and a fee of $120.00 for a standard 91-120 minute group consultation that includes 5 or more people. Provided your banking details are registered with Medicare, rebates can be processed after sessions have been attended.
